Excerpt from SimRaceBlog
Simagic is a well-known name among sim racers. Over the years, the company has continued to strengthen its position in the market and has become one of the leading brands in sim racing.
To further build on that position, Simagic has launched two new products: the Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra wheelbase and the new P700 pedals. When Simagic offered us the opportunity to review these products, we were naturally very excited. In this first review, we’ll be taking a closer look at the Alpha EVO Ultra wheelbase. A review of the P700 pedals will follow at a later date.
We’ll be testing the Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra wheelbase, which carries a price tag of $969.00 (approximately €822.00 at the time of writing), excluding VAT and shipping. For this review, we’ll pair it with the Simagic FX Pro steering wheel, priced at $549.00 (approximately €465.00), excluding VAT and shipping. Both products are available through the Simagic website and selected local retailers.
Packaging & Contents
Our Simagic package was delivered to a pickup point near us. Normally, it would have been delivered directly to our home, but this time it worked out better for us logistically to collect it from a pickup location.
When picking it up, we immediately noticed that the Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra Wheelbase comes in quite a large box. Measuring 24 x 48 x 32 cm, it has a substantial size. Fortunately, the box includes a plastic handle on top, making it easy to carry. The box itself has a matte black finish. On the front, there is a glossy product image of the wheelbase, surrounded by the Simagic branding in the top-left corner and the product name “αEVO ULTRA” in the top-right corner.
On the back of the box, we find technical drawings of the wheelbase from two different angles. Beneath these is a wide range of information. There is a small “What’s in the Box” section listing the included contents, along with several safety warnings in multiple languages. We also find three QR codes that link to Simagic’s download page, the product tutorial, and global technical support.
A box this large immediately makes us want to dive inside of it, which is exactly what we did. The contents are arranged in several layers. When opening the box, the first thing we find is a sheet of Simagic stickers resting on top of the black foam lid. After removing the sticker sheet, we discover the Alpha EVO Ultra Quick Guide, neatly recessed into the lid itself.
Underneath the lid, in the next layer, the first components…
