Instead, Fanatec is leading with the Formula configuration. That means the initial release will be a two-pedal setup, while the full three-pedal GT set has now been pushed back to Q3. According to Fanatec, the reason is simple. The clutch pedal is currently dealing with quality issues, and the company says it is not willing to ship something that does not meet its standards.

The Formula set arrives first

The version launching first is the Podium Pedals Formula set, which comes as a two-pedal package. Fanatec says this version uses carbon fiber pedal faces and carbon heel cups, which are a big part of what helps justify the price. That also means the Formula set is not simply a stripped-down placeholder. It is still being positioned as a premium product in its own right.

To make that launch a little easier to swallow for buyers who may want a more conventional look and feel, Fanatec is also including two aluminum GT-style pedal plates free for a limited time with every set.
