Foresight GC2 vs Square Omni: Similarly Priced, but Very Different Launch Monitors

PlayBetter - Golf Simulator Comparisons

Quick summary· AI-generated

PlayBetter's detailed comparison scores both camera-based launch monitors across price, setup, portability, data accuracy, outdoor/indoor use, features, simulator compatibility, and subscription costs. The GC2 prioritizes precision ball data from Foresight's tour-proven technology but lacks club metrics and charges a subscription for sim use; the Omni offers four cameras, 21 metrics, ball and club data, and no subscription but faces availability backlogs and less mature native software. The author emphasizes that despite similar price points, the devices cater to different priorities—Foresight's measured-data philosophy versus Square's comprehensive metric approach.

Watch a Quick Introduction to the Foresight GC2!

Sometimes, two launch monitors land so close together on price that comparing them isn’t much of a choice. It’s more like an obligation.

That’s the Foresight GC2 and the Square Omni.

The GC2 costs $1,699. The Omni costs $1,600. Both are camera-based. Both sit beside the ball. Both work indoors and outdoors. And both have a built-in screen so that you can get numbers right on the device during range sessions.

But beyond that, honestly, it’s more about differences than similarities with these two launch monitors.

The GC2 is Foresight’s bet on precision over quantity. It’s two cameras, ball data only, all directly measured data from the company whose launch monitors are found up and down every tour range. But no club data and a pretty decent subscription cost if you want to also play simulator golf.

The Omni is Square’s bet on everything. It’s four cameras, 21 metrics, ball and club data, face impact location, and no subscription. From a company that’s been in the launch monitor business for only a couple of years. But availability is an issue as backorder lines are still lengthy and the native sim software isn’t on par with competing devices.

I’ve spent a lot of time with both. One disclosure up front: I haven’t hit balls with the GC2 and Omni in the same session. But just know that I’ve used both devices extensively indoors and outdoors.

So which should you buy? Like other head-to-heads I’ve done, I’ve scored this matchup from 0 through 5 in 10 categories:

Price

First Impressions Upon Unboxing

Setup Process

Portability

Data

Outdoor Use

Indoor Use

Features

Simulator Use

Annual Subscriptions Cost

Pay the most attention to the categories that matter most to you. The total score matters less than you’d think.

Let’s get into the Foresight Sports GC2 vs the Square Golf Omni.

Omni Beats GC2 on Price

Foresight GC2 = 3; Square Omni = 5

On paper, these two are separated by $99. But in practice, the gap is wider than that.

For $1,600, the Omni gives you four cameras, 21 metrics, face impact location, a built-in screen, and a GSPro connection with nothing owed to Square.

For $1,699, the GC2 gives you two cameras and eight measured ball metrics. Those are exceptional metrics, and I’ll get to why. But on a pure what-you-get-for-the-money basis, the Omni is in a different league.

I’m not docking the GC2 any further here for its subscription costs. Those get their own category at the end.
