Foresight GC2 Review: Unboxing and First Test of the $1,699 Launch Monitor

Golf Simulator Videos

Quick summary· AI-generated

Jay Lasco provides a first-look unboxing and hands-on test of Foresight's new GC2 launch monitor, positioned as an entry-point portable unit under the GC3 and GCQuad. The unit uses Foresight's signature dual high-speed camera system (no radar) to measure ball data only—14 data points total—and is compact enough to bag to the range. The review notes the hardware performance is impressive at the $1,699 price point, but flags software subscription costs as the real consideration; however, basic range features are available free in Foresight+ Free and Foresight Premier on PC. It ships October 9, 2026, arriving in retail October 15.

Excerpt from Golf Simulator Videos

The new Foresight GC2 is a $1,699 portable launch monitor that measures the ball with two high-speed cameras, the same approach as Foresight's far more expensive units. It gives ball data only, with no club data. Jay Lasco, host of Golf Simulator Videos, unboxed one, measured the hitting zone and hit shots with it for this first look. The short version: the ball data and the speed of the unit impressed us, and the price that needs a close look is the software, not the hardware. With no subscription at all you still get the basic range features in the Foresight App and in Foresight Premier on a PC.

What is the new Foresight GC2?

The name is not new. The original GC2 was Foresight's first launch monitor, and club data came from the HMT, a second pair of cameras that attached to it. That unit is discontinued. The 2026 GC2 reuses the name on all-new hardware and sits at the bottom of the range, under the GC3, GCQuad, QuadMAX and Falcon.

Unboxing: what is in the box

Front: the two cameras and the ready light. The 2.8 in color display sits on top. Back: power, USB-C, Ethernet and 15 V DC.

Foresight lists five things in the box:

The GC2 launch monitor

Power adapter and cable

Alignment stick

30 days of Foresight+ Gold membership with Course Pass Pro

1-year warranty

Our box also had a carrying case, a getting-started card and a Foresight sticker. The power adapter looks like the same 15 volt one that comes with other Foresight units.

Out of the box the first things we noticed were the size and the weight. It is small enough for a bag to the range, and the 2.8 in screen is in color. Ours arrived with the battery at 10%, so plan to charge it fully before the first session.
