FlightFX Updates Citation X to v2.3.0 for MSFS 2024

Threshold

Quick summary· AI-generated

The update optimizes the Citation X's systems and EFB to reduce CPU load and improve frame rates on lower-end PCs and Xbox consoles. FlightFX adds Lite texture variants to reduce VRAM usage, introduces Bing Maps as a fallback for the moving map, and fixes issues with autothrottle stability during pauses and flight restarts, wheel rotation at high frame rates, and audio positioning. These changes are aimed at improving long-flight performance and compatibility across hardware tiers.

Excerpt from Threshold

FlightFX has updated its Citation X for MSFS 2024 to version 2.3.0, introducing a substantial performance overhaul, low-resolution texture options, and several bug fixes.

According to FlightFX, the aircraft’s systems and EFB have been optimised to reduce CPU usage, resulting in smoother, more consistent frame rates, especially on lower-end PCs and Xbox consoles. These changes should improve performance on longer flights.

To further reduce hardware demands, FlightFX has added a Lite texture variant for the standard and winglet-equipped passenger models of the Citation X. The Lite texture variants use less of your GPU’s VRAM and are recommended for Xbox users or PCs with limited graphics memory.

The EFB’s moving map now supports Bing Maps as an alternative to OpenStreetMap. If OSM becomes unavailable, Bing Maps will automatically be toggled until OSM service is restored.

The autothrottle behaviour has also been improved, now preventing unwanted throttle movement when pausing and resuming MSFS 2024. Issues related to flight restarts and teleports have also been fixed, FlightFX says.

Wheel behaviour above 60 FPS has also been fixed; previously, the wheels rotated too slowly at these higher frame rates. The starboard engine audio has been repositioned, and the throttle detent sounds have been removed when the autothrottle is engaged and the levers are moved. A memory leak affecting Navigraph sign-ins via the EFB has also been solved.

Changelog

v2.3.0

Major performance overhaul

The Citation X is now much lighter on your system. The aircraft systems and the EFB have been optimised from top to bottom, so they put far less load on your CPU. You get smoother, steadier frame rates in the cockpit, especially on lower-end PCs and Xbox, and performance holds up better on long flights.

New Lite texture presets. The standard and winglet passenger versions now come with Lite variants (“Standard – Lite Textures”) that use much less texture memory. They’re recommended for Xbox and systems with limited VRAM.

New

EFB map: added a Bing map option. If the OpenStreetMap tile server fails or is blocked, the map switches to Bing automatically and goes back to OSM once it recovers.

Fixes

Throttle detent clicks no longer sound while the autothrottle moves the levers Autothrottle now holds steady through a pause, with no drift and no throttle jump on resume, and handles flight restarts and teleports

Wheels no longer spin too slowly at frame rates above 60 fps…
