Quick summary· AI-generated

Fenix Simulations has released a detailed development video and formal announcement of A320 Version 3, a substantial free update for existing A320/A319/A321 owners in MSFS 2020/2024. The update addresses long-standing issues with VNAV, ECAM, and aircraft state-saving that delayed the A320neo release; it includes flight-dynamics refinements, avionics improvements, cabin systems work, and a large changelog of smaller fixes. Version 3 is expected to release the week of October 20, 2026. The announcement follows months of developer silence after a November 2025 priority shift toward fixing the existing A320 family before launching new paid variants.

Excerpt from Threshold

After months of silence, Fenix Simulations has returned with a colossal development update on the Airbus A320 family, revealing the Fenix A320 Version 3, a large overhaul for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.

Indeed, Fenix released a nearly two-hour-long YouTube video covering almost every aspect of the aircraft, from flight dynamics and avionics to cabin systems, sounds, and a huge changelog of smaller improvements.

The video contains several easter eggs pointing towards the Fenix Simulations A320neo family, as well as quite obvious inspiration from the Rockstar Grand Theft Auto 6 release, which you can discover yourself below.

Version 3 will be a free update for existing customers, and the release is targeting next week, provided final preparations go as planned. It will support MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, and apply to the existing A319, A320, and A321 family.

“Good Things Come to Those Who Wait”

Today’s announcement, in line with how Fenix tends to present major news nowadays, follows a long period of radio silence regarding A320 development, during which little was known about upcoming releases.

In November 2025, the developer announced a change in priorities, shifting some resources away from its upcoming A320neo and A321neo to address issues with the existing A320ceo family.

At the time, Fenix identified the VNAV and Electronic Centralised Aircraft Monitoring (ECAM) implementations, as well as the lack of comprehensive aircraft state saving, as areas that needed improvement before the NEOs could be released. Fenix explained that it wanted to improve these areas of the existing product line first, before shipping another paid release.

Since then, information has been limited, although the developer quietly updated its product status page earlier this month, confirming that testing of the next big update was progressing well.

Today’s announcement was accompanied by a heavy dose of Fenix-style humour, and the YouTube video opened with a parody of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI.

Beyond the humour, the YouTube video offers a quite exhaustive look at what has been happening behind the scenes to create this Version 3 update.

Flight Model improvements

As expected, vertical navigation (VNAV) is a major part of this update, but Version 3 also includes wide-ranging changes to flight handling.
