Fly2High has released William P. Hobby Airport (IATA/FAA: HOU, ICAO: KHOU) for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and X-Plane 12, one of Southwest Airlines’ biggest operating bases.
Situated about seven miles from central Houston, Hobby is the city’s oldest commercial airport.
It previously served as Houston’s main airport before the opening of George Bush Intercontinental Airport in 1969, and later developed into a secondary airport, now serving scheduled, corporate, and private aviation.
Today, Southwest Airlines is by far the largest operator, accounting for the majority of passenger traffic, including both domestic and international services, the latter of which was introduced following the opening of a dedicated international terminal in 2025.
Fly2High’s scenery has modelled the terminal complex, aprons, taxiways, airport structures, and surrounding environment, with custom ground textures, signage, vehicles, equipment, vegetation, weathering, and night lighting.
Selected terminal interiors are also modelled.
The MSFS 2024 version, showcased above, includes custom VDGS, animated terminal displays, animated crowds of people, custom jetways, and other environmental animations.
Fly2High also states that the scenery uses optimised models and LODs to cope with performance.
X-Plane 12
The XP12 version follows a similar idea, with roughly the same feature set, while adapting several features for the X-Plane platform.
It includes OpenSAM-compatible custom jetways, custom taxi signage, and an LST profile using xCodr’s Living Scenery Technology, for a more active airside.
Both versions of Fly2High Houston William P. Hobby (KHOU) are available on the developer’s own home page, as well as on the iniBuilds Store and X-Plane.org Store, among others, priced at $18.99 each.
