Digital Aeronautics has released version 1.2.0 of their Mil Mi-2 (NATO: “Hoplite”) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, an update that adds the latest 2024 SDK improvements.

It is the first big update for the MSFS 2024 version, following the Mi-2’s original MSFS 2020 release earlier this year.

A set of native MSFS 2024 features have also been added.

A quite large part of v1.2.0 concerns the flight model, where the fuselage now uses 2024’s updated Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), which Digital Aeronautics says improves airflow calculations around the helicopter’s surface.

Separate CFD configurations exist for the various helicopter versions, and the flight model will vary depending on whether one or both external fuel tanks are fitted.

The model complexity will now decrease with distance, so the further the camera moves, the less detailed the model will become, saving on performance.
