iniBuilds Paris CDG: Azrsim Cancels, Pilot Experience Sim Continues

Threshold

Quick summary· AI-generated

iniBuilds announced a new Paris Charles de Gaulle scenery for MSFS, prompting Azrsim to cancel their competing CDG project entirely and redirect development resources elsewhere. Pilot Experience Sim, a French developer with on-site access to the airport, has instead doubled down on their own CDG release and stated they will continue development unchanged despite the new competition. The article contextualizes these moves within a broader history of CDG scenery projects, including Aerosoft's June suspension citing access and reference-material difficulties.

Yesterday’s announcement by iniBuilds about Paris Charles de Gaulle (LFPG) has already had consequences for the two competing projects.

Azrsim has announced that they are fully cancelling their Paris CDG scenery, while Pilot Experience Sim has instead done the opposite, issuing a statement that development of their version will continue at full speed.

These developments have added yet another chapter to an already crowded history surrounding Charles de Gaulle.

Aerosoft suspended their own LFPG project in June, citing difficulties obtaining the access and reference material needed to recreate an airport of CDG’s size and complexity.

At the time, Aerosoft pointed to Azrsim and Pilot Experience Sim as alternative projects.

Azrsim has now cancelled their Paris CDG scenery altogether, following iniBuilds’ announcement yesterday.

The developer stated they would instead support iniBuilds’ rendition, expressing confidence that the newly announced project will provide a high-quality representation.

Azrsim says their development resources will be moved to a different project, a project of which they have not yet revealed, other than stating it will not be an airport scenery, describing it as something Microsoft Flight Simulator has needed “since day one”.

Pilot Experience Sim, meanwhile, has taken the opposite lane.

Shortly after the iniBuilds announcement, the French developer issued a statement confirming that work on their own Charles de Gaulle scenery will not be stopped, and that it will be released for both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

PES stated that iniBuilds is a direct partner and said they regret seeing the company enter into direct competition on a project of this scale.

They nevertheless describe the situation as part of the market, and say their development plans remain unchanged.

The French developer is emphasising their local access to Charles de Gaulle, and the team says they have gathered “hundreds of gigabytes” of reference material directly from the airport grounds and surrounding areas, providing detailed information that can be hard to obtain remotely.

This access is also expected to form part of the project after release, PES says.

Charles de Gaulle is receiving many changes across its terminals and infrastructure in real life, and Pilot Experience Sim argues that their local…
