Heatblur Simulations has released the F-14B(U), a major addition to their famous Tomcat series for DCS World. The main additions are a modernised glass cockpit and the JDAMs, but the module also represents far more than just a technical refresh.

The F-14B(U) is probably the closest we’ve come to an F-14D in DCS World. It finally bridges the gap between the early Tomcats and the more modern strike fighters of the Iraqi Freedom era.

More Than Just An Update

What makes the F-14B(U) interesting is not only the aircraft itself, but what it means in the big picture. Rather than releasing one Tomcat and leaving it there, Heatblur has spent years building an entire family of historically accurate variants.

The original F-14B was followed by multiple F-14A variants before today’s F-14B(U). Instead of treating the Tomcat as a one-time release, Heatblur has treated it as a long-term platform that continues to evolve.
