Excerpt from Threshold

Axonos has released Tokyo International Airport, also known as Haneda (RJTT), for X-Plane 12, one of Japan’s busiest and most recognisable airports.

Haneda, one of Tokyo’s primary airports, along with Narita International Airport, is built on reclaimed land in Tokyo Bay and is a hub for significant domestic traffic.

Haneda has seen international traffic shift from Narita in recent years, thanks to Haneda’s closer proximity to downtown Tokyo, offering greater convenience for passengers than flying to Narita.

The project, which Axonos says is their most ambitious yet, features hundreds of modelled buildings and custom assets, covering terminals, hangars, various structures, and surrounding facilities.

A custom terrain mesh for the Haneda artificial island is included, along with the uphill slope towards the connecting road bridge.

Axonos says the scenery includes accurate ramp, apron, vehicle and taxiway markings, as well as appropriate Japanese signage throughout the airport.

PBR materials have been used throughout the scenery, with hand-placed weathering and surface detail, vegetation, rocks, and other clutter.

Custom night lighting for all terminals, hangars and airport buildings is included, as well as several points of interest, including the Tower of Winds and Haneda’s observation decks.

Key Features:

– Hundreds of custom-modelled buildings and assets — virtually the entire airport is built by hand, with almost nothing left to default. Every terminal, hangar, and structure across Haneda has been recreated for total fidelity

– Highly accurate custom terrain mesh — faithfully recreating Haneda’s artificial island and the signature uphill slope to the bridge

– Authentic ground detail — all ramp, vehicle, and apron markings, plus ground signage, modelled with precision

– Genuine Japanese signage throughout — including real-world ground markings such as “Caution — Jet Blast” and “Stop Here”

– PBR materials across the entire airport for true-to-life surfaces and lighting response

– Hand-crafted grunge & weathering that captures the lived-in authenticity of a working hub

– Fully detailed surroundings — vegetation, rocks, trash bins, and environmental clutter for total immersion

– Custom night lighting for terminals, hangars, and airport buildings

– Iconic points of interest modelled in detail, including the Tower of Winds and observation decks

– Custom-modelled island integration blended seamlessly into the X-Plane 12 world
