Leonardo Previews Native Fly the Maddog for MSFS 2024
Quick summary· AI-generated
Leonardo has published a detailed status update on their fully native MSFS 2024 Maddog build, including new aircraft model with functional windshield wipers, improved spoiler/landing gear animations, new crew voice options (male/female), enhanced autopilot and VNAV logic following Sim Update 5 weather support, and numerous EFB/avionics refinements. The developer plans to continue supporting both MSFS 2020 and 2024, with most broader changes rolling back to the legacy version.

Leonardo Software House posted on Jun. 14 a status update on their upcoming, fully native MSFS 2024 version of the Fly the Maddog 20th Anniversary Edition, and the developer has shared a full changelog.
While many changes are specific to the native MSFS 2024 build, Leonardo says most of the broader changes will also be available in MSFS 2020.
The team intends to continue support for both platforms as well.
2024 Art & Visual improvements
Part of the Maddog 2024 is a new, native aircraft model, now with functional windshield wipers.
Leonardo has also reworked the spoilers and landing gear, improved the wing flex animation, and adjusted some LOD’s to allow for increased detail in exterior camera positions.
Issues related to the period key on the Control Display Unit (CDU), spoiler-level animations, and the white cross indication used by the fuel cross-feed have been fixed.
Wiper positions will now retain their state when the aircraft enters turnaround mode, so they won’t reset to their standard position when moving between sectors.

Sounds
Leonardo has developed new male and female crew voices, and you can now choose between male or female pilot-monitoring callouts.
Cabin attendant announcements and crew messages have been repositioned, allowing them to be played from the correct areas in the cockpit and cabin. The cockpit volume will now follow the PA/INT volume setting.
The sounds missing from the yaw damper switch and auxiliary fuel pump switches have been added as well.
Autopilot, VNAV, Weather Radar and EFB
After Asobo added new Weather Functionality in Sim Update 5, Leonardo has now followed up with support for tilt control, stabilisation, and pitch limits.
The engagement logic for the autopilot has been revised, and glidelope capture behaviour should now be better.
Leonardo has also corrected an issue that previously allowed VNAV to engage while the Thrust Rating Panel was still in take-off, flexible take-off or go-around mode.
FMS intercept logic has been improved, and should now be more accurate when intercepting, with adjusted angles.
A missing stick shaker was added when the stall test warning was engaged, among a number of smaller fixes.
Many improvements were also made to the EFB and Maddog Manager, including automatic night mode, independent instant load for payload, and others.
