Contrail has recently released their long-awaited rendition of the Dassault Falcon 50 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, the first Falcon private jet to ever be available in both Microsoft Flight Simulators.
The Dassault Falcon 50 was developed in response to demand for longer flight ranges in the United States in the early 1970s, with Dassault aiming to break away from its previous aircraft and bring a serious competitor with a respectable range, capable of flying transoceanic routes up to 3400 nautical miles.
After two years of development work, the FA50 took its maiden flight in November 1976, powered by three Garrett TFE 731-3 jet engines. They ultimately decided to further revamp the prototype with improved wings, flying for the first time with the new configuration in May 1977, and the wing changes were considered a good shout overall. It became the world’s first civil aircraft with supercritical wings, and its certification was secured in 1979.
It has a range of 5830 km at 31,000 feet, a cruising speed of 870 km/h, and a maximum takeoff weight of 17600 kg.
The add-on features custom made avionics such as the EFIS 85C, the MX20 MFD, and the GNS-XLS Flight Management System, a working weather radar with tilt function, and datalink weather (MSFS 2024 only), a custom EFB app compatible with SimBrief and JetCard importing, Navigraph integration, a comprehensive ground handling services page, a paperclip chart for take-off and landing performance, accurate autopilot modes matching the real-life counterpart, an accurate custom flight model and ground handling, custom PBR texturing, custom animations, multiple interactive elements inside the aircraft, and much more.
It’s available on Contrail for roughly $38.27, requiring at least 2.66 GB of free hard disk space to install.
