X-Crafts Shares E-Jets 3.0 Development Update for X-Plane 12
Quick summary· AI-generated
X-Crafts shared a development update for the upcoming E-Jets 3.0 payware addon for X-Plane 12. The update highlights work on a custom autopilot (with complex hold-behavior testing), a redesigned and user-friendly EFB with built-in SimBrief dispatch integration, and the addition of the AirComms tutorial/learning system (previously seen in their ERJ Family 2.0). Additional work is underway on cockpit/cabin textures and avionics, though details on those will come later. No release date or pricing has been announced yet, though it will be a paid upgrade.
Excerpt from Threshold
X-Crafts has shared a new development post for the next-generation E-Jets Family 3.0, being developed for X-Plane 12.
The contents of the post are mainly centred on navigation, cockpit tools, flight planning and tutorial/learning platform (AirComms). This includes progress on the new autopilot, refreshed EFB and SimBrief Dispatch integration.
Autopilot
The new custom autopilot, being developed by Steve Wilson, is currently the focus of extensive testing activity, with hold behaviour currently under scrutiny.
The challenges involve correctly handling hold entries, out-of-time changes, directs, missed approach holds, and different ways of either leaving or continuing from a hold.
X-Crafts showcased an example of this work in progress, including a direct-to into a hold, a shortened approach, and a missed approach sequence leading into a hold with a parallel entry.
EFB
X-Crafts is also reworking the EFB, saying the new version has a new design and will be friendlier and easier to use. The new EFB will have updated visuals, light and dark mode, and several tablet options.
Moreover, SimBrief integration is being built directly into the EFB. Rather than just importing a SimBrief flight plan into the FMS, the goal now is to let the user generate SimBrief flights directly inside the EFB itself, negating the need to switch tabs.
AirComms
AirComms is also coming over to the E-Jets. This system was previously introduced in X-Crafts’ ERJ Family 2.0, facilitating tips, reminders, warnings, and tutorials. AirComms should make the aircraft easier to learn and operate.
Miscellaneous
X-Crafts also briefly mentioned that work continues in other areas, including a cockpit and cabin texture overhaul, avionics updates, and more, although those will be covered in a future update.
As previously detailed, the E-Jets 3.0 is set to be a paid upgrade due to the long list of changes involved.
No release date has been shared, but more information will be shared in future posts.
